Everybody loves stories of people being rescued from imminent danger. Such stories receive a lot of coverage and views. And why not? It’s incredible good news that we hear in a world frequented by political battles, meanness and brokenness.
It’s even more powerful and awe-inspiring when we hear survivors themselves talk about their miraculous rescue.
The words of a child salvaged after being buried under earthquake rubble for 3 days.
The face of the man pulled from a flooding river that almost swept him to his doom.
We too at Marg rejoice to hear such real-life stories. But we are even more thrilled to hear stories of people who have been rescued from ultimate soul-destruction.

Johnny Lever claims he had prayed to Jesus, for Hrithik Roshan and the famous Bollywood actor was healed of a cyst problem!
The late Dev Anand, Bollywood superstar of yesteryears, followed the controversial US-based televangelist, Pastor Benny Hinn, in his later years!
I had no idea about all of this until recently, when a dear uncle from our church family handed me an article on current Christianity, and that, in a mainstream Indian tabloid. Best gift in weeks- thank you!
Is it not so “cool” to see Christians influence celebrities? While Hollywood has had it’s Kirk Cameron-moments, it would be exciting to have Indian movie stars or politicians convinced of the Christian faith!
Or so it would seem to a lot of us, bechara Christians, what with the we-are-only-2%-of-our-country’s-population collective sigh, looking for some way, any way (apart from maybe speaking the truth about Jesus?) for a massive, nation-jolting affirmation of the Christian faith from someone “big” enough.
But our tiny sparks of hope will fizzle out if we don’t keep in mind two very important questions:
1. How is the Christian faith largely perceived by fellow citizens today?
2. Is the Christian good news that is prevalent among stars and celebrity-pastors in India, really the original Jesus-brand or some cheap (contaminated Maggi?) variety? Continue reading “Of Healings, Hrithik Roshan And Miracle-Marketing”
You are living in Pune, thankful for being part of a Marg church family (hopefully thankful, guys!).
Then comes the time to visit your parents or your children.
The visit to your siblings in Mumbai.
The on-site work project that takes you to Delhi, Singapore, or Sweden.
Even on a fun trip to Manali.
Hopefully you desire to find a church gathering.
WHICH ONE SHALL IT BE?
Some people prefer a church community which has old friends.
Some visit the church they spent their childhood in. (What will your parents say?!)
Some visit churches led by a famous pastor or “anointed” man of God.
Some visit churches to “check out” beautiful girls or handsome dudes and see if God will show them “His will”. This image is dedicated to such champions.
The Bible does not contain outright instructions on what kind of church you must attend when you are away from your home-church. Continue reading “What Church Should I Visit When I Am Away From Marg?”
As part of Community Bible Reading some of us in Marg churches are doing together, we are studying and sharing what we learn daily from common Bible portions. Things took an interesting turn for me when we started the book of Numbers.
Until recently, it was easy for me to share what I had learned from the Bible.
For example, from Peter’s denial of knowing Jesus, I learnt that I must expect temptation and ask for faithfulness in times of testing, because Jesus matters the most.
From Psalm 23, I learnt that I don’t need to look to people for provision, it is God who is my employer and my guardian. But –
What do we learn from Numbers chapter 1 : A census of Israel’s warriors?
