Gospel Identity

Life Perspective

 We are a family

    God chose to reveal Himself through an earthly  family—who would live in such a way that the  world would know and magnify Him. Jesus said  that those who live in his ways and obey his  Father are truly his family. Through Jesus we  are made children of God and so brothers and  sisters with each other. (Genesis 12:1-3; John  1:12-13; Romans 12:10-16);
  • We seek to foster strong familial bonding.
  • We meet through the week for fellowship, nurture, missions and hold each  other accountable to this covenant life together.
  • We shall celebrate meals together as a family as of-ten as possible,  especially the meal reminding of the Lord’s sacrifice.
  • We will look to elevate every member of our family through material help  and spiritual help (mentoring, counseling)
 We are slaves-to the Lord and to one  another
A.

    1. We serve Jesus- In Matt 28:18 we are  reminded that all authority has been given to  Him alone. So we are now slaves who belong to  Him. As His slaves we will always inquire from  Him concerning every aspect of our lives. This  shall also be a communal activity making all of  us learners.

 B.

    We serve others- Fully God & fully human,  Jesus took on the posture of a slave. He gave  his life, even unto death, so that others who  deserved much worse, could experience  salvation, peace and restoration. Jesus said, “I  am among you as one who serves…” All those  who follow Jesus are called to serve in the  same humility giving grace. For us this means  joyful submission to God and to each other, as  we serve whomever God brings into our lives.  We do Whatever needs doing, Whenever it’s  needed and Wherever it leads us. (Matthew  20:25-28, 25:31-46; John 13:1-17; Philippians  2:5-11; 1 Peter 2:16)
  • His word is more important to us than anything else. It is our lifeline. So  we treat every word with due importance and study, meditate, teach and  preach it in its historical, grammatical and contextual frame-work.
  • Jesus’ word is our only source of authority. Tradition, culture, Christian  sub-culture and statistics have its place but will not be allowed to superimpose it.
  • We shall relate, love and show special favor to those who rebel more-in  “MARG” and outside;
  • We will seek to serve the underprivileged in the society (Luke 14:12-14,  Acts 6:1-3, Gal 2:9-10, Jas 1:27.
  • We shall esteem others over us.
  • We will thrive on a God-exalting theology as we re-main love-slaves of our Lord
 We are missionaries (disciple makers)

    God sent his son, Jesus, to Earth to take on  human form and live within the culture. He  worked, ate and inter-acted among the people;  living in such a way that those around him  could see and experience what God was truly  like. Jesus came so that all people, places and  things could be restored to a right relationship  with God. After Jesus rose from the dead and  before His as-cension, he instructed the  disciples thrice on their role on earth. He said  that “…as the Father has sent me, so I send  you”, ..”make disciples of all kinds of people…”,  “…you shall be witnesses..”I. So like him, we  are made missionaries, sent into our culture to  restore all things to God through Jesus by  proclaiming Him through the gospel and worthy  deeds. We live this out as part of a missional  community. (John 20:19-23; Matt 28:18-20;  Acts 1:8; John 1:14, 20:21; 1 Cor 9:19-23;  Colossians 1:19; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21)
  • Get obsessed with this purpose of God by reminding ourselves everyday of   our (Marg’s) primary role
    Blend with prevalent city culture as long as liberty does not stray into participating and promoting sin. – We will be all things to all people so that  by all means some will be saved.
  • We will strive to do this mission together as a family of God’s children  seeking to save the targeted community through the week.
  • We shall venture into the unbeliever’s life and circle of friends rather than  wait for them to land in our circle.
  • We shall seek to disciple all (believer and unbeliever) through a gospel  framework and also ear-nestly receive instruction as we interact with each other in our own homes, missional communities and larger Marg family  gatherings.
  • We shall seek to be a local-church planting movement as God works  primarily in and through the local expressions of His body.
